An overview of the latest release

WithSAP S/4HANA 2025(released onOctober 8, 2025), SAP is introducing its most powerful and intelligent ERP system to date.
Numerous innovations inAI (SAP Joule), finance, manufacturing, supply chain, Clean Core, and sustainabilitydeliver greater efficiency, transparency, and automation.

With the latestFeature Pack Stack 01 (FPS01, March 2026),AIis becoming even more deeply integrated into core processes.

Why S/4HANA 2025?
With Release 2025, SAP continues itstwo-year update cycle(following 2021, 2022, and 2023). Thanks to7 years of mainstream maintenance, it remains stable in the long term—until the next major release,S/4HANA 2027(planned for Q4 2027).

Note: Many AI features (e.g., SAP Joule) are delivered via SAP BTP in the cloud; the functional, UX, and development enhancements are also available on-premises.

  • Universal Journal: Faster month-end closing, automated reconciliations

  • Simplified fixed asset accounting & standardized journal views

Release History of SAP S/4HANA

Until 2019, SAP used four-digit version numbers such as 1511, 1610, and 1709 —these represent the year and month of the release (e.g., 1511 = November 2015).

Since S/4HANA 2020, releases have been issued every two years and named after the calendar year (2020, 2021, …).
Feature Pack Stacks (FPS) provide additional functionality between major releases.

4. Next release in 2027 + ongoing FPS

Continuous feature packs; the major S/4HANA 2027 release is scheduled for Q4 2027.
